Booking terms

All bookings accepted by Kloofwater are subject to these terms and conditions, which are deemed to have been accepted in full by the guest. Payment of a booking fee indicates acceptance of these terms and conditions.

Any restrictions are in place to ensure a peaceful and comfortable stay for you and fellow guests, and to safeguard the surrounding endangered fynbos vegetation and wildlife.

Important information

• No cellphone signal or Wi-Fi on the property.
• No braais or outdoor fires — the fynbos is critically endangered.
• The solar system powers the fridge-freezer, lights and device charging only; please don’t plug in other appliances.
• No pets.
• No smoking inside the cottages; only responsibly, in designated areas.
• No loud music, motorbikes or drones.
• Wild animals live here — never feed wildlife, and lock doors and windows when you go out.
• Mountain weather is wild and unpredictable — pack for every season.
• You may wish to bring your own drinking water if you do not want to drink the mountain or rain water supplied.
• Entering Kloofwater is at the guest’s own risk. Feeding of any wildlife is strictly prohibited.

Bookings and payment

Renting self-catering units from Kloofwater does not confer possession on the guest or create a landlord–tenant relationship. The guest will not be entitled to any form of tenancy and confirms that they will not occupy the units as their principal home.

Bookings are only confirmed when we send written confirmation by email following receipt of the completed booking form and payment of the booking deposit. 50% of the total rental charge is required within 48 hours to confirm the reservation.

The balance is to be paid in full 14 days prior to the arrival date by electronic funds transfer, with proof of payment sent to stay@kloofwater.co.za. Failure to do so without prior arrangement may result in cancellation of the booking.

Should a booking be made within 14 days of the arrival date, the full rental charge must be paid at the time of booking. Under no circumstances will accommodation be provided until cleared funds covering the full rental charge have been received.

Rental charges

The minimum length of stay is 2 nights, with a maximum of 30 days. The cottages are not serviced, but the rental charge includes a change of bed linen and towels once a week.

Arrivals and departures

Units are available from 14:00 on the day of arrival. Check-in is between 14:00 and 17:00 — please allow enough time to arrive before 17:00. Guests must arrange their arrival time with Kloofwater in advance for key collection. There is no one on site and no cellphone signal at the gate, so without prior arrangements guests will not be able to access the property. Should your arrival time change, please notify us immediately.

Units must be vacated and keys returned by 10:00 on the day of departure, unless otherwise agreed. Each unit has its own lock box at the entrance gate. On departure, place the keys in the relevant lock box, close it and scramble the combination.

Cancellation policy

All cancellations must be made in writing by email. Cancellations 14 or more days prior to arrival receive a full refund; 7–14 days prior, a 50% refund; 1–7 days prior, no refund. No-shows will be charged the full value of the reservation.

Breakages and damage

We deliver the property clean and in working order and put it in your care for the duration of your stay. Except for normal wear and tear, the guest is responsible for making good any damage to the unit, its contents or the property caused by negligence, wilful damage or irresponsible behaviour.

The unit and all equipment must be left clean and tidy. Should the unit be left in an unacceptable state, a cleaning fee of R500 will be charged.

Occupants

Only guests specified by name at the time of booking by the primary guest may occupy the self-catering unit.

Liability

Kloofwater and its owners will not be liable for any damage, loss, injury or death to any guest or member of their party, or to any vehicles or possessions, while on the property. Right of admission reserved.
